9 was great, it exceeded my expectation too much that I want to say it’s the best movie of the year, sorry Inglorious Bastard. However, I can’t do it because it seems that this year’s movies are getting better and better as time goes on.
Now back to 9 the movie. 9 is a very unique number, especially to the Chinese people. Traditionally, Chinese believe 9 is the biggest number in any digits number combination, 9 is the biggest in single digit, 99 is the biggest in double digit and so on. We also believe sky has nine layers. There isn’t really a word can describe the sky’s meaning in Chinese, that’s another story. Anyway, Chinese believe sky has nine layers. I don’t know why the movie chooses 9, but I figure it probably got influenced by it somewhat as I see a lot of Chinese name in the movie credit.
There are a lot of weird bits and pieces in the movie that they took it from other historical references. They added a lot of fun factor to the film. What’s really great about this movie is that the movie talks about life after life seize exist.
I always had this believe that life can take in any kind of form. I never believed that life must be formed by water and this movie reinforced my belief that there are others out there held the same idea. I think what’s really important is the mind and the thoughts. The skin is just shell.
To me, humanity means nothing so I am kind of disagree with the movie’s core message here. I agree life goes on after human, but humanity is not a necessity.
Anyway, for an animation, 9 is very intense and I think it was a thrill experiences. I highly recommend it.
