I’ve been having this neck pain for the past couple days and I doubt it will get better anytime soon. It makes me appreciate the times that all my body function correctly.
It happened suddenly, I walked to my car in the morning, I opened the door, I got in the car, there it was, a cracking sound. “OH FUCK!” That’s what I said because I knew it then that it’ll hurt. There was no immediate pain. I moved my head a little, “@$@#%@#%$#^@#^@#$%^#@$%@#@#%@#%$#^” It hurt and I knew it’ll be like this for awhile.
Sometimes I really wish I am a cyborg or at least my skeleton structure is made of a better material. I would not mind to become a hybrid human being. During my college years, we had a debate in the class and we were discussing the morality of human machine integration. The topic which we debated upon was what if a blind one has cybernetic eyes which will remotely transfer the vision back to the host body’s brain. That means one possesses eyes that can see oneself without mirror. It’s kind of creepy if you think about it. Is it moral to do this or should the person forever be blind. You can argue that why not just put the eye in the human body, but this is not why we are having this debate. I rejected the idea back then, I was thinking that artificial enhancement will make me not me. Though I will become better, but I am not who I am anymore.
I changed my mind after all those years. I might not be I anymore, but I can still be a different I is what I believe now. Sure, if I am a cyborg, I won’t have all the flesh human qualities, but what defines me is entirely up to myself. I may not have the shell, but my mind, my thoughts, my believes are what makes me, me. So if I am still me with a better body, what’s downside?
You could argue that what makes a cyborg body better than a human body? I can’t guarantee that, but I am not argument about it either. I just prefer a cyborg or hybrid body if I am given the chance.

Hey, you should ice it every 15 minutes for 5 minutes at a time – especially if it hurts. You can also go to my chiropractor or a massage therapist to help soothe the pain. Do you have access to a hot tub? Hot tub for 15 minutes on your next will help releax the muscles. Also icy hot helps too.

I’ll try your ice hot receipt, but I do feel better when I apply hot wash towel around my neck. It was a moment of heaven. lol

I agree with you that a cyborg body will not stop you from being who you are. However, getting one in the context of society will influence who you will become. Some may hate you for being different. It might be that getting one is really expensive, so only few can afford it, and tilting the social balance in favor of those who can afford it to get an advantage over organic bodies will create additional detractors. Or for some reason it might happen that for some reason everybody starts loving cyborgs. In any case, this social interactions will require a reaction from those with a cyborg body, and the way that their personality and psychology will be affected could be hard to predict. As a result, I wouldn’t jump into a decision too soon if given the chance.
