Blind justice, this is what people would love to have. However, justice is blind most of the time. It’s hard to find justice these days, your house is damaged during an earthquake, but it is not covered by your home insurance. You are paying ridiculous amount of money for your health insurance but you can’t afford to get sick. You want to buy a house but you can’t get the loan. Where is the superman when we need him?
I don’t know if you heard it or not, but the Bay Area Rapid Transit’s board of directors is negotiating with their employees so that the board can cut back on the wage and benefits. Of course, this doesn’t sounds good to the BART employees and the unions that representing them are planning to strike if the contract doesn’t meet their demands. I mean come on, the riders including me around the bay area has already been paying some of the most expansive railroad service in the nation while these BART employees are collecting an average range from 50,000 – 70,000/yr base salary. This does not include their pension plans and benefits. We are facing a economic downfall right now and they are expecting better pay and better benefits? Have these 3,225 BART employees stop and thinking about what they are doing? The unemployment rate in California has reached 11.6% in June 2009. I mean if they really want to strike, I say let them strike permanently. I am sure people from that 11.6% brackets will happily accept these 3,225 vacated positions and lower pays and benefits.
Where is the Justice in this? Sure the new employees will mess up early on, but the BART unions are going to strike anyway. Since BART is a government agency and we are paying for their salary, I think we have the rights to fire these old employees and hire news one. Don’t you agree with me? I seriously think these BART employees and their union personals need to see a shrink and to check if their screws are loose or not.
Justice is blind. Fuck it.
