Windows 7 and OSX Snow Leopard is coming out soon but before you jump on the upgrade wagon, there’s a few things you have to know.
For Windows 7
First, there are really only three versions you should be considering.
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- Windows 7 Professional
- Windows 7 Ultimate
And they should all be 64bits so you don’t need to buy a new copy a year later and you get to have the luxury of using at least 4GB of memory. Hell, the memory is so cheap these days, I say just stick 8GB in your machine. Make sure your motherboard can support them though.
Second, if you really want to buy it, buy the Windows Vista version of your choice now and make sure you get the FREE Windows 7 upgrade form. That’s right, you can buy the Windows Vista version right now and get the upgrade absolutely free when it releases. You have to be hurry thought, I think the offer is ending soon. I am prepared to buy the Windows Vista Ultimate 64bits. It’ll cost about 220 dollar.
Third, if you want to wait and see how it goes, you can still download the Windows 7 RC1 from Microsoft. It’s very stable and you can use it until next March before it starts to auto restart every 2 hours so that you will get annoyed enough to buy the actual software.
Four, Windows 7 can be run on virtually any new machine you can find on the market right now and it runs fast.
For OSX Snow Leopard.
It is also a very nice OS. Added a lot of new functions and Apple paid a lot of attentions to detail. UI is almost the same. Here is couple of thing you need to know.
First, it can only be installed on Interl processor based Mac. No power pc allow.
Second, the upgrade version’s family pack only cost 20 dollar and it can be installed on 5 Macs.
Third, I think you should install Windows 7 in bootcamp and maybe switch to the PC side.
Whatever you choose, you will end up accomplish a lot more on your devices.
